Who we are

Maiquilla Brown is a proud Yuin-Walbunja woman from the South Coast of New South Wales with a strong commitment to uplifting Aboriginal community and culture.
With more than a decade of experience working across community development, youth engagement, and Aboriginal initiatives within government and community organisations, Maiquilla has built a reputation for creating meaningful programs and culturally strong spaces that empower Aboriginal people and strengthen community connections.
Throughout her career she has worked closely with Aboriginal young people, Elders, organisations and local leaders, advocating for initiatives that centre Aboriginal voices, culture and lived experience. Her work has included developing and delivering community programs, facilitating Aboriginal reference groups, advising organisations on culturally respectful engagement, and building partnerships that support Aboriginal communities to thrive.
Bimbala Collective was founded from Maiquilla’s passion to create a platform that celebrates and elevates Aboriginal businesses, events and initiatives across the Illawarra. Through this work she aims to strengthen visibility, connection and opportunity for Aboriginal people and enterprises throughout the region.
